Soup Sisters Diamond Valley
The soup’s on in Diamond Valley! Soup Sisters Diamond Valley successfully launched on Sunday, March 27, 2011. In partnership with Diamond Willow Artisan Retreat we will be supporting Rowan House Emergency Shelter and Eagle House Shelters. Led by Chef Darren Nixon, twenty amazing soup sisters came to Diamond Willow Artisan Retreat to make over 150 servings of delicious soup. An amazing time was had by all and Soup Sisters events will be held on a bi-monthly basis.
Rowan House Emergency Shelter is a small, short-term women’s emergency shelter situated in the foothills of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, just a half-hour south of Calgary. They provide both residential and outreach services to women and their children affected by violence with a specialized focus on rural communities. They serve the rural Foothills including the communities of Okotoks, High River, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Longview, Blackie, Nanton, Vulcan, Claresholm, and the surrounding areas. Rowan House is a shared facility with Eagle House, an adolescent group home, who will also be a recipient of our soups.
Diamond Willow Artisan Retreat is an 11 acre enchanting get-away destination embraced by the rolling foothills of southern Alberta. Long time supporters of Rowan House, owners Doug and Pat Lothrop welcome Soup Sisters to the Diamond Willow Artisan Retreat located just west of Turner Valley in Alberta’s lovely foothills. The large country kitchen is a favourite gathering place where our soups will be created in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
