Over 30 women rolled up their sleeves to make delicious, nutritious soups for Ottawa Interval House in the uber funky, stylish kitchen at urban element. Nearly 300 servings of soup were lovingly prepared under the professional guidance and enthusiastic leadership of Caroline Ishii, Executive Chef and Owner of award winning Zen Kitchen in Ottawa. Five different varieties of soup were made for immediate delivery to the women and children living at Interval House.

Interval House of Ottawa is a non-profit, twenty-bed emergency shelter, where thousands of women and their children have resided since opening in 1976. It is a safe haven that allows women and their families’ time to heal and provides resources that help them begin their lives anew. Interval House is a place where families in transition—from all faiths and ethnic groups—can build lasting friendships and feel safe, secure and supported.

Oshki Kizis Lodge is operated by Minwaashin Lodge - The Aboriginal Women's Support Centre. It is a 21-bed shelter for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis women & children who are fleeing abuse. By empowering women, Oshki Kizis Lodge assists them on their healing path to a safe & healthy place. They support the family unit holistically by showing awareness and respect for individual and cultural beliefs, spirituality and diversity.

the Urban Element, offering 1,700 square feet of open concept, urban-rustic culinary space will provide Soup Sisters events with the ultimate kitchen experience combined with a meaningful contribution when the soup is delivered fresh to Interval House and Oshki Kiciz Lodge.
