Saskatoon Soup Sisters

The soup's on in Saskatoon! Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers Saskatoon launched February 13, 2014 with a fantastic group of inaugural soup-makers who chopped and diced over 200 servings of soup for the women and children at Interval House and Adelle house.

Saskatoon Interval House is an emergency, temporary shelter for women and their children who require safe accommodation. Interval House believes in providing a safe, respectful environment for women and their children experiencing domestic violence. Residents of Interval House have been forced to leave violent relationships for their own safety and for the safety of their children.

Interval House is staffed twenty-four hours a day every day of the year. A variety of services are offered. These include safe accommodation, counselling, referral and advocacy. Crisis calls and information are also an integral part of the service Interval House provides to the community.

Adelle House, owned and operated by Saskatoon Interval House is a twelve unit apartment building established for women from abusive relationships who wish to work together to develop a safe, enriched community for themselves and their children.

Queen's House Retreat and Renewal Centre is proud to partner with Soup Sisters in support of our bi-monthly soup-making events.

Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers charge a $55 participation fee per person to cover the expenses of ingredients for the soups, the venue, equipment, supervision, and a Chef or professional facilitator. This ensures that the finest ingredients possible are used every time for the soups we provide to women, children and youth. Events are social evenings with lively conversation, chopping, laughter and warm kitchen camaraderie that culminate in a simple, sit-down supper of soup, salad, bread and wine for all participants. Each event produces approximately 150-250 servings of fresh soup that sustains your local shelter with nourishing and nurturing soup each month.
