An excerpt from a letter from the CWES following the launch of Soup Sisters in Calgary only 2 years ago.

 “We know that in order for women and children to embrace the complexities of their situation and be receptive to counseling, we must ensure that their most basic needs are met. With bowls of soup lovingly prepared by you, the Soup Sisters, we know we can meet the nutritional needs of our clients. But this is where I believe the simplicity of this project becomes a little more complex. Yes, it is just one bowl of soup, but it is the combination of ingredients, and the resulting aroma and flavour of the soup that feed the senses, provide the nutrition we feel is necessary for our clients as well as the warmth and comfort that satisfies their souls. Knowing that the soup they are eating has been lovingly prepared by a group of caring women means they do not have to walk the journey to a life free from family violence alone.
