Having a Bowl, by Guest Chef Elizabeth Baird

Feedback from Eva’s Initiatives

The youth are always delighted to receive the delicious, homemade soups each month, and appreciate the contributions of strangers to provide them with a nutritious meal.  They eagerly await the delivery of the soup, and continue to marvel at the fact that total strangers would take time to make such delicious soups for them.

“The soup is awesome.”

– Michael

“Thank you for sending us this delicious soup.”

The Red Door Family Shelter provides safe and supportive emergency housing to individuals and families in need of refuge from domestic violence and to those who find themselves without accommodation. They provide comprehensive 24-hour accommodation through 156 shelter beds at two sites in Toronto. Since 1982, The Red Door has assisted residents in their efforts to establish a stable life outside the shelter through education, counselling, community services and advocacy on their behalf.

The 1st Stop Woodlawn Shelter gives women 16 years of age and older who are homeless or in immediate crisis free shelter and support. They provide on-site trauma and mental health support, addictions counselling, parent support and employment counselling, as well as basic necessities upon arrival (ex. toiletries, diapers, clothing). Through their career services and counselling programs, shelter women get out of crisis and move on to independence and safety.
