Vancouver Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers
Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers unite! In partnership with the Dirty Apron Cooking School and in support of Kate Booth House, Broadway Youth Resource Centre and Koomseh Transition House we now have the opportunity to make soup for three recipients in one event.
Kate Booth House, founded by The Salvation Army, opened in Vancouver in 1985, and has since provided a safe, confidential refuge for more than 4,000 women and children from 83 nationalities fleeing domestic abuse. They offer a home for up to 30 days in a supportive atmosphere and a range of support services for women and children.
Broadway Youth Resource Centre (BYRC) is an integrated one-stop centre that provides a wide range of social, health, education, employment and life skills services to homeless and at-risk youth between the ages of 12 and 24. The food program run through the Resource Room is available five days a week and we will be supporting their daily operation by providing home-made soups as a simple gift of nourishment and warmth while expressing our belief in the potential of all young people.
Fresh soups delivered to Koomseh Transition House will support women and children who have been impacted by abuse suffered in intimate relationships. We are offering them the healing warmth that comes from wholesome soups, but also the message that they aren’t alone and have the support of Vancouver community people on their journeys towards lives free from abuse.
The Dirty Apron Cooking School is highly regarded in Vancouver as an exciting culinary playground that was born out of a passion for great food. The school is a joint venture between Karri and Nico Schuermans and former Chambar Sous-Chef David Robertson who have created an incredible environment for a community to come together, socialize and create delicious soups. This is a space that will take our nurturing and nourishing soups to a whole new level and Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers will delight in using only the best tools of the trade including All Clad cookware, Wusthof knives and Wolf ranges. You will unleash your inner soup-making skills with Vancouver’s newest cooking school, The Dirty Apron.
Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers encourages group bookings of all kinds from book clubs, corporate groups to couples nights, family events, private parties, etc. The possibilities are endless and require only a commitment by the group to make the very best soups they can for our recipients.
