Soup Sisters Victoria
The soup’s on in Victoria! Soup Sisters Victoria successfully launched on, Thurdsay, March 30, 2011 in partnership with The London Chef and in support of Victoria Women’s Transition House. Nearly 200 servings of fresh soup was made for immediate delivery to the shelter.
Victoria Women’s Transition House Society has since 1975 provided a safe and welcoming shelter, respectful counselling, support and advocacy to over 160 women each year who are seeking a brighter future for themselves and their children. Over 110 children accompany their mothers to the Shelter where they receive counselling and support. In addition to shelter services, Transition House provides community counselling, individual and group, for abused women and their children. More than just safe housing, Victoria Women’s Transition House is a place of renewal and support.
The London Chef, opening its doors in early March 2011 on Fort Street is a one stop destination for Victoria's foodie. The storefront will have a state of the art fully interactive cooking school where students/Soup Sisters can cook at their own station along with a chef instructor, a private dining room for up to sixteen guests, a catering kitchen for offsite events, a cafe serving Victoria's famous Discovery coffee, and finally a pantry selling prepared foods and specialty food items. Owned and operated by Dan and Micayla Hayes, The London Chef is looking forward to being part of Victoria's exciting food community and hosting Soup Sisters monthly events in support of the women and children at Victoria Women’s Transition House.
